Why We Built This Site
Iowa provides several public access routes, yet no one office holds every part of a criminal matter. The Franklin County Sheriff handles sheriff reports, custody routing, and warrant questions. The Clerk of District Court keeps filed charges, docket events, and dispositions. DCI maintains Iowa's central fingerprint-based criminal-history repository, while the Iowa Department of Corrections and Iowa Sex Offender Registry answer different questions. The site brings verified contacts, request methods, fees, and official search links into a county-focused reference.
What You Will Find Here
- Local contacts: where to reach the Franklin County sheriff, district court clerk, and statewide Iowa record systems
- Record instructions: how Franklin County court cases, arrest files, and registry entries are found and read
- Official checks: how Iowa DCI name checks and subject fingerprint records differ from a county docket search
- Record relief: where Iowa expungement rules apply and which court receives a qualifying petition
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not an Iowa court, law-enforcement office, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We do not issue certified court files, rap sheets, or other official copies
- We cannot submit an expungement petition or public-record request for a visitor
- We do not retrieve a criminal record or perform an official check
- We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, or case as legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency will never change its fee, hours, address, or process
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Franklin County Sheriff, the district court clerk, or Iowa DCI.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its service, results, prices, and terms. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee for this site. That support helps keep the reference pages available, but it does not give us control over a partner's charges or data.
